We have got these electoral districts covered for 2008 (Bourassa, Toronto Centre, Brandon--Souris, Provencher) and 2011 (Bourassa, Toronto Centre, Brandon--Souris, Provencher).
Apr 7, 2013: Today the Prime Minister announced a by-election in Labrador to take place on May 13. We've got this electoral district covered for 2008 and 2011.
Apr 1, 2013: It took a while, but Ontario (2008) is now online. This represents 1/3 of the country's electoral districts.
Oct 21, 2012: Today the Prime Minister announced by-elections in Calgary-Centre, Durham, and Victoria to take place on November 26. Once again, we've got these electoral districts covered for 2008 (Calgary-Centre, Durham, Victoria) and 2011 (Calgary-Centre, Durham, Victoria).
Apr 21, 2012: Google recently announced that it has depreciated and will soon eliminate their Image Charts service. It's a shame considering the charts are simple and easy to produce. Today I was looking at some alternatives that use jquery, and I came across this site that renders some cool pie charts.
Feb 5, 2012: Today the Prime Minister announced a by-election in Toronto--Danforth to take place on March 19. We've got this electoral district covered for 2008 and 2011.
Jan 2, 2012: New Brunswick (2008) is now online.
Dec 31, 2011: Added Nova Scotia for 2008, and fixed a bug that coloured the margin of victory maps wrong when there were multiple independent candidates and one of those candidates won the poll division.
Dec 27, 2011: Added Manitoba for 2008 and minor CSS adjustments for the maps due to Google slightly changing the map menu styles.
Dec 9, 2011: Finished adding Saskatchewan for 2008. Some of these prairie ridings are huge and have significant geo-coordinate data. As a result, Google can't handle the mapping of some electoral districts, and the map will not populate with data. I will need to optimize the coordinates in the future in order for them to load and to load faster. Right now I'm focusing on getting the bulk data up and running.
Oct 20, 2011: By request, I've made maps for BC from the 2011 general election. You can access it by going to the 2008 map and changing the year in the page address. I think I will finish 2008 for the rest of the country before making some tweeks to code performance and continuing with 2011.
Oct 6, 2011: Now using googleapis.com for map generation over SSL. Google says that this domain will never set cookies and will never read your existing cookies from google.com, increasing security and performance.
Sep 26, 2011: Finished and added Alberta. Still undecided whether to finish 2008 for the rest of the country or start on 2011 results.
May 15, 2011: Added a table of the election standings on the home page.
May 3, 2011: Map with results from the 41st general election has been uploaded.
Apr 10, 2011: Added a downloads section to the riding intro pages and uploaded raw poll by poll data. I think these pages will be renamed to "riding information" after the election.
Apr 6, 2011: Linked the Elections Canada paper maps to the navigation, uploaded/linked an about me page, and simplified the electoral district menu above in light of the ongoing election and increased website traffic.
Mar 24, 2011: Clearly we are about to embark into a federal election. While I've been able to finish maps for the north, NL, PEI, and BC, this website is obviously no where as complete as I'd like it to be. I'd like to still keep the service available for those that will actually use it, so if you're interested in a specific riding that isn't currently available, please .
Mar 13, 2011: Voter turnout map overlay now available, located in the top right corner of each map, along with Conservative support vs. turnout.
Feb 22, 2011: Maps and results for BC are now online.
Feb 12, 2011: The location search box and the map overlay drop down menu have to repositioned to the top of the maps horizontally in order to accomodate Google's map API enhancements.
Jan 30, 2011: YK, NT, and NU maps are now up. I will start on BC next. If you have any requests for ridings to do first, please me.
Jan 29, 2011: PE maps are now up.
Jan 28, 2011: NL maps are up, as well as an archive of all of Elections Canada's paper maps at http://www.electionmapper.ca/maps/
